I never thought I would grow up to be helping people live exceptional lives. In my former life I was a sports-mad workaholic journalist, radio and television producer. That life included an obsession with AFL football, which led me to create The Run Home on Victorian all-sports station SEN 1116, and work as an associate producer at Channel Nine’s The Footy Show. That life also included years as a smoking, binge-drinking, overweight, pimply statistic-waiting-to-happen.

The beginning of the revolution came when I met my now-wife Sarah, a wellness chiropractor. Embarking not just on a magnificent relationship but a complete lifestyle and philosophical change, I began to slowly take away my least healthy habits (hopping in to bed smelling of cigarette smoke wasn’t great for the relationship!) and replace them with life-enhancing, empowering ones. The transformation from an addicted smoker to extreme vegan (sometimes raw) and now back again to somewhere in the middle (also known as Just Eat Real Food) also helped me realise that diet was not the nirvana of living and long-life, as it’s made out to be. I began to recognise through my research that there are other more important factors to living than diet alone! Fancy that! After years of research I created the Exceptional Life Blueprint to teach people exactly what that research presented, and most importantly, how everyday people like you and I can live an exceptional life.

Today I find myself inspired to teach people the difference between mediocrity and exceptional living. I do this largely through speaking, running events and via my podcasts. Live events are my passion – from 40-minute keynote presentations to a 2-day immersion in Byron Bay and then to running a 10-day Longevity Experience on the Greek Islands. Helping people in real life rather than online is incredibly meaningful for me.

I’m big on teaching people not to silently approve what we read in the papers and online, watch on TV and listen to on the radio. Instead, I’m about relentlessly challenging people to be their own person, their own “scientific researcher”, their own creator of health, so that they can live their life on their own terms and not someone else’s.

On a personal note I reside just outside of Byron Bay with my angel sent from heaven Sarah and our four beautiful children, Maya, Darby, Tommy and Spencer. I’m the eldest of three (I have two wonderful sisters, Olivia and Georgia) and live within a functionally blended family including step-parents, step-siblings and so on.

I wear two professional hats – one as the founder of the Exceptional Life Blueprint – an 8-step process to creating a magnificent life – and CEO of The Wellness Couch podcast network, Australia’s #1 podcast network with over 2 million annual downloads and lifetime downloads exceeding 8 million. I’m involved with four podcasts on The Wellness Couch – as co-host of 100 Not Out and The Wellness Breakthrough, plus the Go Vita Podcast and Your Exceptional Life. I also co-hosted Inside The Champion’s Mind alongside Laurence Tham for 80+ episodes.
